They help in activities like bending our fingers or rotating our shoulders.

Sometimes, if we move weirdly or put too much pressure on a joint, the ligament can get stretched or twisted too much. This can cause sprains or strains. In more severe cases, resulting in Knee ligament tear. Overusing a joint or getting sick can also lead to these injuries, especially in sports where we often use the same movements.

Tendons, on the other hand, are strong cords that connect muscles to bones. If they get twisted or torn, it’s called a strain, another type of soft tissue damage. Ligament injuries are common in areas like the knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. It’s important to take care of these injuries to keep moving and using our joints without any problem.

There are 4 major ligaments in the Knee. Bones are connected to each other through ligaments. They give the joints the stability and the strength required. There are 4 ligaments that connect the thigh bone to the shin bone. they are:

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL): This ligament controls rotation and forward movement of the shin bone. Even if the injury seems minor, it’s important to see a doctor if the pain and swelling don’t get better in a day or two if things are getting worse, or if you can’t put weight on the joint. The symptoms depend on how bad the injury is and where it happened. Here are some of the symptoms of Knee Ligament Injury.

You might feel pain

Hear a popping sound

See bruising

Trouble in moving the joint

Causes:

Ligament injuries often occur when the joint goes through an unexpected twist or a wrong move that puts too much pressure on the ligament, causing it to stretch or tear.

Keeping active and doing regular exercise helps keep ligaments flexible and strong, making them better at handling minor injuries without getting hurt too easily. People who play sports, like football, hockey, tennis, or basketball, are more likely to get these injuries because their joints go through a lot of quick movements and heavy impacts resulting in Knee Ligament Tear.

For example, if you twist your ankle while walking or running, you might end up with a sprain, which may red So, staying active is good for your ligaments, but it’s also important to be careful, especially during sports or activities that involve a lot of movement and pressure on your joints.

How is Knee ligament tear injury is diagnosed

In addition to a thorough medical history and physical exam, diagnostic tests for a knee ligament tear may include:

X-ray: This imaging technique employs electromagnetic energy beams to create images of internal tissues, bones, and organs on film. It helps in distinguishing between bone injuries and ligament damage or in identifying additional bone-related issues.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): This diagnostic method utilizes a combination of powerful magnets, radio waves, and computer technology to generate detailed images of internal organs and structures. It is particularly useful in assessing damage or disease affecting both bones and surrounding ligaments or muscles.

Arthroscopy: This minimally invasive technique is used for both diagnosing and treating joint conditions. It involves inserting a small, illuminated optic tube called an arthroscope through a tiny incision in the joint.
